What do you call a female brony? Ponies? I guess it doesn't matter. Anyway, I wanted to draw Rarity looking sexy but tasteful, so this is what happened. I love the way it turned out. I hope my fellow pony lovers like it as well.
Edit: Pegasister it the term, as I've been informed. I'm also told that "brony" is gender neutral. :)

A Pegasister is what you'd be called.

That said, "brony" is generally considered a gender-neutral moniker, so either of those works. :P

Well some people seem to think so, but last time I check, the "bro" part comes from the word "brother". Plus, why would you complain when the alternative is something as cool as Pegasister? And the artist of this pic was wondering so I threw in my two cents.

Well, "bro" can either mean "male sibling" or (in slang) just "friend/buddy" without any gender association. That's mostly why people say "brony" is a gender-neutral term.

But as I just said, either term pretty much works fine. You're not incorrect.

Oh my beloved Rarity, I have often envisioned you in my warm embrace, to look deep into your beautiful blue eyes
to smile when you smile
to run my fingers through your more then beautiful flowing mane
to laugh at your jokes
to be by your side when your feeling sad
to love you unconditionally
to be forever your love.....

Some call them Pegasisters, but most seem to want to be called simply "bronies", saying that they don't want to segregate. Bronies does arrive from the /b/ board on fourchan (/b/ronies) and not from the word "bro" anyway, so it's pretty gender neutral~

Awesome pic by the way! <3 Some times you find the most awesome things whilst browing newest! :D

Actually you've got it the other way around. Brony is a portmanteau of bro + pony, it didn't come from the /b/ board from 4chan. /b/ was actually what started the whole flamewar against bronies on 4chan, /co/ was where the bronies came from. But you are right about it being a gender neutral term.

Ah! But if I remember correctly bronies where first called /co/lts on the /co/ board. Something that changed as they converted /b/tards. :)

They didn't move on to /b/ because /b/ started flaming them so they gave up 4chan altogether (because the mods on 4chan started banning them as well) and created sites like Ponychan and Equestria Daily. If you look up the word 'brony' on urbandictionary.com, nearly every definition on the first page says that it's a combo of bro + pony, they don't mention the /b/ + pony theory. I know knowyourmeme said otherwise in their one video on YouTube, but that's because it's knowyourmeme and they didn't get their facts straight. Plus, it sounds more like 'bro' and where do you think the R comes from?

Sorry if I sound like I'm being a nuisance, I just thought I'd clear that up.

That is true indeed! Ponychan and fimchan where created in response to what was going on on 4chan. I've gotten corrected in this matter the way I tried to correct you before, and now you say it's the other way around! xD Well well, I'm thinking the truth is just maybe a bit more in the loose. I mean as there are still plenty of bronies on both the /co/ board and the /b/ board, may diffrent bronies accepted the name for diffrent reasons? I know I like for the "bro" aspect. Never was much for them image boards... At least we can agrre it's gender neutral enough to apply to women too :)

I'm sure there were some /b/ bronies on 4chan at some point, but I've heard that that board is pretty militant and rude, and the bronies weren't interested in getting into a huge flamewar so that's what made them move to other sites or make their own ones. Most sources, including some popular hardcore fans and Hasbro themselves, have said that it's just 'bro ponies'. Besides, it wouldn't really make sense to say they're called that because it stemmed from /b/ cuz not all bronies, including myself, get into that or have even been on 4chan. the term "bro" these days is just kind of a thing we use to call people who are our friends or are cool or something and it does sound much better than that. There are also other things to call the female fans though like 'pegasisters' and 'bronettes', but I never hear the latter being used.
